Inkhouse Boston "Meet The Press" Panel: Racial Equality, the Economy & the Election

#ICYMI: We hosted our second "Meet the Press" Panel with several Boston reporters from the Boston Business Journal, The Boston Globe, State House News Service and WGBH on August 25, to understand how the COVID-19 pandemic and the racial justice protests have impacted newsrooms and reporting.

We discussed structural bias within the news business and how these media properties are talking to voices who are not always “in the room” to diversify their sources. We also discussed what constitutes good news right now (hint: it’s mostly people and businesses overcoming hardships in unique ways), as well as what it means for the media to be unbiased this election season. The consensus was that the job of journalists is to uncover the truth, and call misinformation what it is (not to regurgitate it just because it’s spoken by a person in power).

It was an insightful conversation on what types of PR pitches are landing -- and are not -- with local business press and how to break through the noise (hint: make sure you’re telling a story that’s newsworthy, relevant and timely with what's happening in the world around us). If you missed it, check out the recap below.
