Interview Dos and Don'ts from Inkhouse's Recruiter

Jun 09, 2021 Beth Monaghan

If you haven’t checked our social channels in a while, we’re hiring! I sat down with Inkhouse’s recruiter and Talent Acquisition Manager Sebanti Chadha to discuss what attributes she looks for, the best way to get in the door/on Zoom for an interview, and more. Check out her top interview dos and don’ts and watch our full interview below. Enjoy and visit here to learn more about joining our team.

Don’t…

  • Don't apply for any and every job available. Focus on the one that aligns with your interests and experience; and if you have experience for one and interest in another express that in your cover letter.
  • Don't try and think of an answer when a question is being asked. Listen. Take a moment. Then answer.
  • Don't give the answer that you think people want to hear. Give the one that you feel is the best according to YOU. This helps with alignment: a mutual goal. Also everyone is looking for authenticity. Don't be scared to say ‘I don't know.’

Do…

  • Be positive with your entire approach -- body language, tone and expressions are very important.
  • Confirm the time and be familiar with the technology you’re using. Then be on time! PR people appreciate good follow-up.
  • Be professional and be yourself. When you are yourself in your personal life, your people show up; when you're yourself in your professional life the right opportunities show up.
