Inkhouse “Meet The Press” Panel: Diversity in Media

Nov 16, 2021 Smitha Rao

Last week we hosted a virtual “Meet the Press” Panel with seasoned journalists Mary Godie, producer of NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt; Maria White Tillman, producer of Black News Channel; and Archith Seshadri, global journalist of Nextstar Media Group, to understand the state of diversity in broadcast media—what’s working and what needs to be done.

The good news is that the industry is going in the right direction. But it hasn’t always been that way.

We discussed how racism and microaggressions in the workplace still exist, why we need diverse leaders in the newsroom to choose the stories, and why it’s so important to ask questions that come from a place of learning, not judgement.

If you missed it, check out the recap below.
